Wordsworth Trust visit to Witherslack wood sculptor Charlie
Date: 12th Mar 2020 @ 10:28am
Last week, Class 2 were fortunate enough to visit wood sculptor Charlie Whinney at his stone workshop in Witherslack. The visit was organised through the Wordsworth Trust, whom commissioned Charlie's unique talents to create a frame for a moss hut, similar to a hideaway used by William Wordsworth.
The children helped construct a wooden frame, using nuts and bolts, which Charlie later demonstrated how to bend wooden pieces around, which will become a moss hut. Everyone had an amazing time learning new skills, working together as a team to achieve a goal and reflecting on poetry and the world around us.
Thanks to Charlie and his team as well as the Wordsworth Trust for accommodating us.
