Marc Quinn - Sculptor

Date: 9th Jan 2020 @ 2:56pm

Our art topic this half term is all about sculptures and famous artists. This afternoon we looked at Marc Quinn and how he links art with science to create some very unusual sculptures, figurative and abstract! We learnt about his famous hand sculptures made from bread dough and created our own. We made salt dough and then looked at our own hands just as Marc Quinn did, compared the lengths of our fingers and used tools to create our knuckles. The Busy Bees learnt that the bones in our hands are called a very funny word - phalanges! There was some very good observations and lots of care taken to create our hand sculptures.

Tomorrow after they have had time to dry we will be covering them with PVA to preserve and set them.
