Dorothy Milner. Chair of governors
Date: 18th Sep 2018 @ 10:12pm
Dear parents and carers,
The new term is now well underway and I would like to introduce myself to everyone as I take up the role of Chair of Governors. I feel privileged to have been volunteering over a number of years in school and am excited to be undertaking this new role within the team of governors.
My background is in education, having begun my teaching career in 1974 and retiring from full time work at the end of 2011, but have retained my interest in education. Initially a Home economics teacher for five years before having children, I have also taught in the Adult Education sector teaching patchwork and quilting, a passion of mine in any spare time I have, after visiting my two daughters and four lovely grandchildren down south, as well as caring for my elderly mother.
Going back to study for a Master Degree in 2005 in Education with a Special Educational Needs pathway and becoming a Specialist Teacher for Specific Learning Difficulties, has enabled me to continue supporting learning in a number of local schools. I am interested in the creative arts and enjoy working and supporting children reading across the school.
I look forward to meeting you at different events in school, working alongside the governing body and school staff and most important of all, to meet and support your children and their education.
Dorothy Milner.
