We had Jamie from the Cumbria Wildlife Trust in at the end of last week. We had a whole school assembly on his walk through the Lake District raising awareness of local wildlife and the important words that have been removed from the dictionary. He raised thousands of pounds and visited local schools to raise awareness. A beautiful book called 'Lost Words', full of nature and wildlife that includes some of those that have been removed from the dictionary was shared in the assembly. We are lucky enough to have one of these beautiful books in school - gifted to us from Kendal Mountain Festival last year! He shared some music with us and information all about the artist who created the illustrations in the book. Later he came into our classes and did some workshops with the children. We had a lovely afternoon learning about life cycles, the parts of a tree and animals that live in them and read a wonderful book called 'Tidy'. Thank you to Jamie for this opportunity, we all had a great time and it re-highlighted the importance and beauty of the environment around us!
