Class 1 Homework Challenges 2.11.18
Date: 2nd Nov 2018 @ 4:44pm
Some activities for you to have a go with this week related to our work in class:
Maths - this week we had a special look at ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd,3rd etc) and teen numbers. Children were fantastic at their races. Children are also pretty good at saying their numbers but were ‘tricked’ in a number activity. At home it would be great if you could practise some number recognition. You could say a number and your child has to write it, you could write numbers down and your child has to colour in the number you say. You could make it trickier by writing numbers such as 21, 31 etc to support your child to develop their place value skills.
English - can your child identify and/or use finger spaces? When reading can they count the words on the page and point out the spaces between them? They could also have a go at writing about bonfire night. Their challenge is to use finger spaces to separate all of their words to make their sentence really clear. Remember - a sentence has to start with a capital letter, make sense and end with a full stop.
Topic - this week children have been looking at rockets! Inspired by their reading of Whatever Next by Jill Murphy, children might like to draw or make a rocket and tell you all about the book.
Next week - we’d like to do some Autumn art. If you go on a nice woodland walk, please collect some Autumn leaves for us to use in class 🍂
Please share any homework challenges which you do with your child on Tapestry. :)
