Headteacher Friday Update 27th September 2019

Date: 27th Sep 2019 @ 2:00pm

As you are aware, we are working towards our Artsmark Award.  This is a 2 year journey which celebrates the creative arts and enables the children to have a wide breadth of experiences in these genres.  Our pathway focuses on the development of life skills, such as listening, presenting, teamwork, resilience, problem solving, leading, creating and aiming high!  We want to develop and nurture these skills for all our pupils in school.

The week beginning October 7th is a national Celebration Week for Artsmark Schools.  As such, I am organising a range of 'artists' from different backgrounds to visit school and talk to the children and share their work/life journey with them.  I wish to encourage the children to understand that to develop a skill takes perseverance and practice and doesn’t just happen overnight.  A large part of Artsmark is about ‘authenticity’ – professional musicians already deliver music in school and we have links with The Wordsworth Trust, Dukes Theatre and Tullie House.  The artists who visit over the week come from the world of painting, music, floristry, stained glass making, needlework and fabric art and others.  We hope it will be an inspiring week for our pupils and look forward to another vibrant and busy week in the Artsmark calendar!

With best wishes for a dry weekend (!)
