Headteacher Friday Update 23rd April 2021

Date: 23rd Apr 2021 @ 11:20am

It has been super to welcome the children back following the Easter break and hear their stories of adventures during the holiday.

Many thanks to those who have brought in a flower pot for the front of school. It’s looking lovely! If you still would like to participate, we do have a few pots remaining by the front gate if you require one.

We’ve enjoyed a busy week this week with Miss Jayne’s dance classes, Mrs Bell’s Orienteering, Piano with Mrs Hirst and Violin with Mrs Hurley. It’s great to be able to welcome back our visiting teachers, who really enrich the curriculum, in a safe manner.

We are very much looking forward to an action packed week next week too!

On Monday, as you will be aware, we are taking the whole school to do Forest Schools. This should be a great opportunity to experience the woods right on our doorstep as a school family. Reverend Nick will also be joining us for a short outdoor worship. Don’t forget to come prepared with your outdoor clothes!

On Thursday we are excited to be welcoming CHOL Theatre Company to school. I participated in an online course with then during lockdown and then facilitated ‘Imaginary Communities’ sessions with Class 2 children when they were learning from home. CHOL has chosen our school to work with on a pilot Digital Residency over the forthcoming term. This links in with our Artsmark Award which we are continuing to work towards, due to an extension granted due to COVID. They will be working with all classes during the day on site and then we will be having a staff inset session at the end of the day. During this we will be planning the way in which the company will be working with us over the summer term. It’s a great opportunity for us as a school and something very unique. The programme will focus on Creative Writing and development of life skills, such as confidence, resilience, team work, communication etc. all skills and qualities which we hope to instil into our young people as they move through school and prepare for later life.

I do hope you all have an enjoyable weekend.
