Geography Day! 🌍

Date: 27th Apr 2019 @ 11:43am

The children across school are all loving our new themed days. These whole school and subject focused days are allowing the children to cover lots of new skills and learning in one day, developing during the day and having the time to really get stuck in!

This geography day the busy bees focused on their locational knowledge. We are now experts on the 4 countries in the UK and their capital cities and the 7 continents, particularly Europe and Africa as we have been looking at the charity WaterAid, how lucky we are and how as a school and at home we can help support less fortunate countries. We used a variety of maps, atlases and maps on the computers and iPads to support our learning.

In the afternoon the whole school swapped classes and had a focus on map skills, we looked at using a compass and following directions, using grid references on maps and using and examining maps and their symbols, including creating some new ones of our own!

There are some keen geographers in the busy bees, it seems even Jeremy Clarksons 'Grand Tour' can be very educational when it comes to learning countries and their capital cities!
