Ever fancied being an animator?

To kick start our Artsmark celebration week, we were joined by Tori Davis – the animation art director for the Lego Movie 2. As well as sharing her story with the children – what inspired her to become an artist and particularly her involvement in animation – she showed the children how her art work was used in the design of the Lego Movie 2. Her key messages for the children were to never give up on yourself, be resilient when people may not appreciate your artwork and that mistakes are great learning opportunities as well as possibly inspiring a different direction for your project. The children were then tasked with designing their own Lego mini figure, while Tori took small groups to demonstrate the art of stop-motion animation using the free Lego Movie Maker app (which can be downloaded onto most devices).
